Signing Sombrero songs are designed as supplemental educational tools to make learning grammar and vocabulary fast and fun! Familiar tunes are used so that learners are able to focus on the concepts at hand. Included with each song purchase is a workbook that includes a variety of teaching tools (refer to First Step) to help solidify the concepts being taught.

Where to start? Below is a step by step guide to help you successfully navigate your way!

FIRST STEP: Select Either a Grammar or Vocabulary Lesson

Lessons are separated into two categories: Grammar and Vocabulary. The sidebar shows the selection of available lessons. Please check back as new lessons are always added. In addition, you can REQUEST A LESSON by visiting our request a lesson page. All grammar lessons include:

  • Grammar review of the concepts in the song
  • Helpful vocabulary – a list of all of the vocabulary used in the song
  • Follow up practice questions for the song
  • Practice worksheets
  • Answer keys for the worksheets

All vocabulary lessons include:

  • Helpful vocabulary – a list of all of the vocabulary used in the song
  • Follow up practice questions for the song
  • Practice worksheets
  • Answer keys for the worksheets
  • Game ideas/materials to help review the vocabulary

SECOND STEP: Select a Specific Lesson

Once you’ve determined whether you’d like to practice Grammar Review or Vocabulary Comprehension, select a specific lesson. Those that have an S1 before them, are geared toward beginning learners (First year Spanish students) . The S2 lesson plans are designed for intermediate learners (Second year Spanish students) .

THIRD STEP: Download a lesson plan

In order to download a lesson, Singing Sombrero will lead you through a step by step payment process with a downloadable button to press at the end. Once both the PDF file and MP3 file are downloaded, you may print out copies and use the information in a variety of formats.

FOURTH STEP: Follow Each Lesson’s Step by Step Guide

With each song purchase, you will receive a workbook with lessons that are designed to easily guide learners through each concept. They begin with a detailed introduction, and are followed by activities that reinforce the material through visual, audio, verbal, and written practice.

FIFTH STEP: Start to Learn Spanish Through SINGING!

Whether you use Singing Sombrero Lessons in the classroom, or as an independent study, the songs will help you quickly and effectively learn the material! Best of all…you’ll have fun doing it! The first time through, I’ll sing with you on the recording. After the first round, you’ll hear me say, “Ahora tú” (Now you). That will be your cue that the second round is about to begin. The second time through, you’ll sing independently with just the musical backtrack. It’s encouraged that you sing the song 2-3 times before moving on to the practice questions that follow. You’ll be amazed by how quickly you absorb the material and are able to demonstrate your fluency with the follow up practice activities!
